[166] The Secret to Peaceful and Profitable Days Behind the Chair: Mastering These 3 Boundaries

This week we're talking about PEACE!
The reality is - when you're an owner of a business - that business takes on a life of it's own and can become it's own little Frankenstein's monster ruling our every moment.
We have to ACTIVELY practice building the business we want and need through building strong boundaries with our clients.

This training is for you, if…

  • You never feel like you’re “off” of work. Receiving messages from clients at all times of the day and night

  • You struggle to charge the FULL price of the services your clients are getting and asking for. You always take a “little off the top”

  • You regularly feel emotionally drained when you finish work.

  • If you wonder or feel like your clients are taking advantage of you.

One of the biggest misconceptions about Boundaries, is that they are selfish and will push people away from us. But the opposite is true. We put boundaries in place to KEEP people close to us in a way that we can manage long-term that is healthy for us. We do it so that BOTH parties are happier in the relationship!

If I could guess, I would say that the main reason you may have been slow to enforce boundaries behind the chair, is because you are caught in a people-pleasing loop.

I’ve been there, too. Many times. But, what I came to understand (through therapy and tons of research) is that people pleasing is an inauthentic attempt to control other people. OUCH! What starts out as an innocent attempt to make other people happy, quickly becomes us “pretending” to be okay with certain behaviors out of fear that others will stop showing up for us.

I don’t know about you - but in 2025 I want to live AUTHENTICALLY.

So here are ways to get started with doing that in your business - starting today!

FINANCIAL BOUNDARIES BEHIND THE CHAIR

Financial boundaries, behind the chair, are boundaries that protect our financial freedom. We see this mostly with PRICING + CHARGING CORRECTLY!

  • Listen to [148] How to price quote new clients in the current economy.

  • Make sure you’re charging your real prices.

  • Practice self control - if they don’t want XYZ, don’t do it. Let the hair be imperfect.

  • Offer upgrades confidently.

  • A lot of times people jump to raise their prices, without practicing actually charging the full amount their clients are asking for from you.

TIME BOUNDARIES BEHIND THE CHAIR

Time boundaries, behind the chair, are boundaries that impact our SCHEDULE. This is where we tend to come in early, stay late, run late, and work on our days off!

  • Say “no” if you don’t have time for something and will run late. Offer to add it to their next appointment.

  • Set up a “work number” with Google Voice so that you can separate your work notifications from your personal notifications.

  • Turn off IG notifications if you schedule through DMs.

  • Sett timers to check-in and then having self control to not check in between.

  • Your clients should be able to message you whenever is convenient for them.

  • YOU should be able to reply whenever is convenient for YOU.

EMOTIONAL BOUNDARIES BEHIND THE CHAIR

Emotional boundaries, behind the chair, are boundaries that impact our MENTAL HEALTH. This is where we are sharing, listening and engaging with our clients in conversations that may be draining or unhealthy for us.
